Each track may have different requirements, including what’s needed to submit an application. If you choose to complete this program exclusively via UCF Online, classes may enroll with a reduction in campus-based fees.

The knowledge gained through the Educational Technology program allows candidates to seek new career paths in education. Graduates from this program have the skills to become computer teachers, instructors at the community and college and university level and instructional designers. Students solidify their research questions, digital instructional project ideas, and consult with faculty regarding research goals. During the program, internships allow students to explore different ways to apply their learning in the real world. At the end of the program, LDT portfolios showcase a variety of student projects. After LDT, our graduates go on to design and evaluate effective technology-based learning environments in settings such as schools, museums, research organizations, and industry.
During the fourth semester of the program, students participate in a mandatory midpoint research symposium. At the midpoint symposium, students review progress to date in relationship to individual professional goals and learning outcomes, students confirm their final research project and practicum activities, and work intensively with a program advisor. The program duration is 5 semesters, including a required summer semester.

During this program, you’ll develop skills at the forefront of instructional design and use the latest technology to create engaging, content-rich, multimedia instruction. You’ll also gain a deeper understanding of how and why people learn. Instructional design in education refers to the process of creating educational or training materials and experiences in an efficient and effective manner. This process typically involves analyzing learning needs, determining desired outcomes, selecting appropriate instructional strategies and creating and testing instructional materials.

Learning Experience Design Lab requires learners to apply foundational learning experience design strategies to create an instructional solution in the form of an e-learning module. In the course, learners will identify an instructional problem and then design and develop a functional prototype of an e-learning solution. Finally, Learning Experience Design Lab teaches the importance of obtaining user feedback and incorporating that feedback to continuously improve the learning experience. Degree-seeking learners must complete the Learning Experience Design foundations series and two pathway courses prior to completing this course. This course provides strategies for explaining essential concepts and demonstrating examples for students in K–12 virtual settings. It also provides strategies for using technology to facilitate meaningful collaboration among K–12 students. Finally, this course explains how to design effective practice and assessment opportunities for K–12 students in virtual settings and provides strategies for ensuring students get the feedback they need to improve learning. The global pandemic has created an urgency for design teams to deliver next-generation solutions at a breakneck pace. In various domains including K-12, higher education, and workforce development, these teams are tasked with creating engaging and immersive virtual learning experiences that can substitute for on-ground instruction.
Each semester, students enroll in two graduate courses (3 units each course).
